2015 PORTLAND GIFT & ACCESSORIES SHOW’S BOUTIQUE ATMOSPHERE ATTRACTS PACIFIC NORTHWEST RETAILERS

ATLANTA, GA (March 27, 2015) – Offering a casual, inviting, boutique atmosphere and a growing number of new, first-time vendors - the March 20-22, 2015 edition of the Portland Gift & Accessories Show held at the Oregon Convention Center attracted gift shops and specialty retailers from throughout the Pacific Northwest region, including Oregon, Washington, and beyond.

Showcasing the diverse taste of the Pacific Northwest, vendors were categorized in five divisions on the show floor, including: Gifts & Collectibles, Fashion Accessories, Food Focus, and Jewelry Vault Cash & Carry. In addition, the  newly expanded and rebranded “Makers’ Market “ section put a special spotlight on artisans and designers showcasing handcrafted crafts in a variety of categories. Attending retailers voted on the section’s “Best Maker”, selecting Mugwump of Portland, OR as the winner.

New, first-time exhibitors were also in the spotlight with a number of advance and on-site promotional exposure opportunities ranging from special show floor stickers identifying them as a new exhibitor, to lobby displays and more. These exhibitors were also contestants in the show’s Best New Product award competition. Voted on by retailers, the 2015 winner was Towne 9 from Seattle, WA.

Retailers were pleased with the new resource offerings at the show this year.

"I've been coming to the show for over 12 years and I always find new merchandise to order,” explains Kathy Casey, Mystery Gallery, Milwaukie, OR. “I enjoy that it's a local show featuring a wealth of new vendor resources each year."

New was also on the mind of many vendors, who opened new accounts at the show.

"Traffic was really good on the first day and the new Friday opening was a huge draw for corporate buyers,” says Betty Scherrer, Pacific NW Gourmet Foods/ Lyfonda Farm, Sandy, OR. “We actually got more new accounts than re-orders."

In addition to the diverse product selection, the 2015 edition offered a number of buyer services. Among the new initiatives was the 50/50 Giveaway - giving buyers the chance to enter to win daily drawings for $50 in cash or merchandise credits to use towards show orders. Tom Rogich, First Cabin, Ocean Shores, WA won the 50/50 Grand Prize  --  a two-night hotel stay for the 2016 edition of the Portland Gift & Accessories Show.

The Portland Gift & Accessories Show will return to the Oregon Convention Center April 1-3, 2015.  For exhibitor information, contact Chris Menefee at 678.370.0352 or cmenefee@urban-expo.com. For buyer information contact Jhana Jordan at 678.370.0338 or jjordan@urban-expo.com.
